Not Financial Advice

Last updated: April 2026

Portrop is a quantitative research and education tool operated by VeriduxLabs. The purpose of this page is to be unambiguous about what Portrop is and — more importantly — what it is not, so you can use it safely and responsibly.

What Portrop is

Portrop analyses publicly available data — stock fundamentals, sector classifications, price histories, and SEC 13F institutional filings — and computes quantitative similarity scores and portfolio overlap metrics. These outputs are intended to help researchers, content creators, and self-directed investors generate hypotheses, explore comparables, and study how institutional portfolios relate to their own. Think of it as a screener augmented with similarity and overlap math.

What Portrop is NOT

Portrop is not a source of financial, investment, trading, tax, legal, or any other kind of professional advice. Nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, short, or otherwise transact in any security, derivative, currency, commodity, or any other financial instrument.

  • A high similarity score between two stocks is a mathematical statement about their quantitative features. It is not a claim that either is a good investment, that one is a substitute for the other, or that swapping them will produce any particular outcome.
  • A portfolio match against an institutional filer does not mean that institution endorses your holdings, that your holdings will perform similarly, or that the institution currently holds any of the listed positions.
  • Institutional 13F filings are lagged by up to 45 days. By the time a filing is public, the reporting institution may have substantially changed the positions it discloses.
  • Similarity algorithms are opinionated, probabilistic, and reflect design choices (weights, factor selection, normalisation) that may not match your objectives, your time horizon, or your definition of "similar."

Data accuracy and limitations

Financial market data is sourced from third-party providers, primarily Twelve Data. Institutional ownership data is derived from public SEC EDGAR filings. We make reasonable efforts to ingest and display this data correctly but:

  • Data may be delayed, incomplete, revised, or contain errors introduced upstream.
  • Prices shown are typically end-of-day and are not real-time quotes.
  • Fundamental data (P/E, margins, growth) is reported by the issuer and restated from time to time.
  • 13F filings are a legal disclosure, not a real-time feed. Check the filing date before drawing conclusions about current ownership.
